Have a passion for art or history? Interested in parks and recreation or transportation issues? There are many ways for citizens to become actively involved in the business of government. In addition to the opportunities that citizens have to express their thoughts and concerns at County Council meetings and public meetings, Los Alamos County residents may apply to serve on one of many Boards, Commissions and Committees (BCCs).
Terms for BCC members range from one to five years. Interested citizens may apply for a position on any BCC that currently has a vacancy. After completing an application, individuals are interviewed by County officials. BCC appointments require a majority vote of the County Council.
Please review our document, "The Role of Boards & Commissions" for more background and the personal growth you can achieve from serving as a volunteer in this special advisory capacity - it's a great way to learn more about local government, and we encourage you to apply!
To view a listing of all BCCs, review current or upcoming BCC vacancies, apply for a vacant position or renew an application on line, please visit the page shown below. Please note that the application is only available on-line and paper copies are no longer accepted. Public use computers to fill out an application on-line are available at either County library.
