Aquatic Center Updates:

-The Aquatic Center is open during weekdays (Mon. - Fri.) 6:00am - 7:00pm, until further notice. 

- The Leisure Lagoon will be closed until Oct. 16, 2023, due to construction & clean-up procedures
         

Starting Sept. 5 - Oct. 14: The Main Pool and Therapy Pool will be open on Saturdays from 9:00 - 11:30am

Walkup Aquatic Center

Recreational swimming in the shallow end of the main pool is scheduled in session times.

Entries will not be allowed into the building until 5 minutes before session. Check-in anytime during session times, however all guests must exit at the end of scheduled session.
- Lane shares are a possibly, if applicable, please circle swim.
- Locker rooms and showers are available for use.


Holiday Hours:

The pool will be open from 1:00pm - 4:00pm on the following holidays:
 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Leisure Lagoon side only)
 - President's Day (entire facility)
-  Memorial Day (Leisure Lagoon side only)
 - Juneteenth (entire facility)
 - Indigenous People's Day


The pool will be open from 8:00am - 12:00pm on the following holidays:
 - 4th of July (Leisure Lagoon side only)

The Aquatic Center offers diverse activities for citizens and visitors of all ages, income levels, fitness levels, and interests in safe and affordable recreation, instruction, fitness, competitive, and therapeutic programs. The Aquatic Center is known internationally as an excellent training facility for teams from around the United States and the world, including Japan, Belgium, New Zealand, Germany, and many more.  Locally the Center supports private swim teams and the Los Alamos High School Swimming and Diving Team.

Session holders will be allowed entry into building 10 minutes prior to session. Check-in allowed during session times, however all guests must exit the pool at the end of the scheduled session and exit locker rooms within 15 minutes. Staff will clear all areas. If patrons would like to swim in the next session, please exit the building and repay for re-entry.

Lagoon Rec Area, Beach Swim, Lazy River & Waterslide
Beach area: Geysers, kids slide suitable for 3 - 7 year olds. Designed for children 7 and under and their parents. Children under 7 MUST be accompanied IN THE WATER by a responsible adult within arm's reach. 
The waterslide is 2 story-tall. Must be at least 48" tall to ride. Maximum weight is 300 lbs. Single riders only.

Leisure Lagoon FAQ's

  1.  Is the pricing for the main pool and the Leisure Lagoon the same?: Yes
  2. Is the admission price the same, if I am not getting into the water?: Yes, all persons who enter the facility must pay the regular admission fee, regardless of intending to use the pool or not. Lesson and swim parents may enter the deck, but if found in the water without a wristband they will be informed by staff to exit the water and pay the admission fee at the front desk. 
  3. Are reservations required for the Leisure Lagoon?: No, entry is on a first come first served basis. 
  4. Can patrons switch between both pools?: Not currently at this time
  5. Is there an age limit?: No; Infants and toddlers not toilet trained must wear swim diapers AND protective plastic diaper covers. Fecal accidents may cause the facility to closed from 60min - 24 hours. Therefore, frequent bathroom breaks are encouraged. 
  6. Can Punch Passes and Annual Passes be used to enter the Leisure Lagoon?: Yes
  7. Can patrons leave the facility and come back?: Yes, however an admission fee will be charged for each entry. 
  8. Are there dressing rooms and showers?: Yes. There are 2 showers on the deck of theLeisure Lagoon, next to the restrooms. There are 4 changing stalls, and 3 family changing restrooms. 
  9. Are there lockers available for the Leisure Lagoon?: Yes, for $0.25 each use (locking & re-locking)
  10. Is there a time limit for the Leisure Lagoon?: No. Currently the Leisure Lagoon is open to the public Mon, Tues., Thurs., Fri from 3:30 - 6:30pm & Weds from 11am - 3pm.
  11. When are birthday parties going to be allowed?: Due to staffing shortages, birthday parties are on hold and space is not available to rent. 
  12. Is the Aquatic Center going have swim lessons?: At this time, we are experiencing a shortage of certified lifeguards (a national issue) in order to provide swim lessons/programs. As this changes, we will adjust the schedule accordingly. 
  13. What is the water temperature in the Leisure Lagoon?: Between 85 & 86 degrees
  14. How deep is the Leisure Lagoon?: 3ft 6in
  15. What is the weight limit for the slide?: 300lbs
  16. Is there a height limit for the slide?: To ride the slide, patrons must be at least 48 inches tall.
  17. Are food and drinks allowed?: No
  18. Are phones allowed?: Yes; however the signal is weak.
  19. Are large outside floaties allowed?: No; Kick-boards and fins are also not allowed in the Leisure Lagoon. 
  20. Are lifejackets available?: Yes
  21. What is the capacity of the Leisure Lagoon?: Currently, due to staffing shortages, the Leisure Lagoon is limited to 85 people in the space. There will be a coordinated effort between the lifeguards and the front desk. 
  22. When the Leisure Lagoon reaches capacity, what should patrons do?: Patrons are welcome to wait in the lobby until other patrons leave, or come back during the Leisure Lagoon open hours.

Open Boating

Practice Time for Canoes, Kayaks and Rafts.The doors open a half hour earlier for boat cleaning before entry. All water craft must be rinsed off on the patio prior to pool entry. Boaters must provide their own boat. All participants must have a wristband for entering in the pool. Life jackets are recommended for participants.

Join us on the weekends for a fun time in the Olympic pool as we raise the temperature to 84-85 degrees. Race your friends on the inflatable obstacle course, play with the any of the water toys or join your friends for a splashing game of basketball.

Open Scuba

 Getting ready for a snorkeling or SCUBA trip, or just want to have fun? Come out to test and practice your SCUBA and/or snorkeling gear. Bring your own gear and certification. You must have a dive buddy for the deep end.

Birthday Parties (Not currently being offered)

The Walkup Aquatic Center has a multi-purpose room just off the deck for a convenient swimming party!

Rental includes: discounted pool admission, room set up with tables & chairs, and a Happy Birthday banner.  Preferred times to rent the Birthday Room are usually Wacky Wednesday's and Warm Water Weekends.  

Must book two weeks in advance - 25 Maximum
